Sotirova A., Mutafova B., Berkov S., Nikolova M.
Studied is the antibacterial activity of methanol extracts and acetone exudates from the Bulgarian plants Achillea clypeolata, Artemisia annua, A. campestris, A. santonicum, A. lerchiana, Micromeria dalmatica, Origanum vulgare subsp. hitrum, Salvia sclarea, Salvia officinalis, Tanacetum parthenium, and Thymus yankae on the model pathogenic bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Bacillus subtilis. Results from the experiments show that both, the methanol extracts and the acetone exudates reveal predominantly bactericidal activity. It was concluded that they can be used for generaion of novel and effective antimicrobials.
